The lesbian flag ’s background is relatively new , emerging in response to the dominance of the rainbow emblem within the broader LGBTQ+ community . Initially, designers felt that the rainbow banner didn't adequately represent lesbian experiences and identities. In 1999, Denise Lyon designed a fl
